Decomposition of Wood vs. Plastic

Did you know that plastic takes 33 times as long to decompose as painted wood?

Painted wood will fully decompose and return to the earth in 13 years.

Plastic however takes a minimum of 500 years to decompose! To put this in reference that would mean that if Christopher Columbus drank out of a plastic water bottle, it would just now be decomposing. This is the length of time of the USAs lifetime, times 2!
